Petter Hanson Stadum stands at the head of the oldest family tree records preserved in the archive, representing the Norwegian roots from Jevnaker, Norway.
Petter lived in Norway during the 1800s. He married Ingeborg Olsdatter, and their family was located in the Jevnaker region of Norway. According to the kinship report dated May 7, 2013, their child Petter Pederson Norby was born in Norby, Jevnaker, Norway, establishing the lineage that would eventually migrate to North Dakota.
His grandson, Peder Pederson Norby (1835–1913), would eventually lead the migration across the Atlantic, carrying the memory of their Norwegian roots to the prairie town of Esmond, North Dakota.
