The marriage of Palmer Alvin Stadum and Signe Marie Solberg on June 14, 1941, in York, North Dakota.
The Wedding Day
On June 14, 1941, Palmer Alvin Stadum and Signe Marie Solberg were united in marriage in York, North Dakota.
The marriage brought together the Stadum line (descendants of Petter Hanson Stadum and John/Gina Stadum of Esmond/Broe Township) and the Solberg family line, establishing a partnership that would span more than half a century of farming, community leadership, and family life on the North Dakota plains.
Signe was the daughter of early Benson County settlers. At the time of their marriage, she had taught at local schools, and Palmer was working in Benson County. Following their marriage, their family grew with the births of children Peggy Jean (1942), Beverly Ann (1945), and Rodney Palmer (1948).
The couple spent their lives in Benson County—farming in Broe Township, working with rural electric cooperatives, and eventually retiring to Rugby, ND. They were buried together at Saint Petri Cemetery in Nome, ND, anchoring the family's geographical history.
